Adam Bogusz
Adam’s successful debut as an artist in Townsville 1998 was not that surprising. From an early age, he revealed a wide range of literary, musical and theatrical skills that blended into his early figurative works. From the beginning, each painting dramatically melded strength of colour with a lyrical quality to reflect an abstraction of the world, real and imagined, that we all inhabit.
In 2004, with the development of his technical skills paralleling his maturing as a person and artist, there is evidence in his works of his awareness of the \'reality behind the appearance\' as manifested in human behaviour. At times, there is an almost frightening edge to the rawness of his images, for as the poet T.S. Elliot wrote, "Human kind cannot bear very much reality". Adam dares to portray the truth of our natures without losing sight of our deepest feelings of longing, loss, desire and compassion. As an artist he reconciles the darkness of our fears with the purities of our hopes. This he achieves with a lyrical and vibrant blend of colour and drama often tempered with a deft touch of humour.
